Are you a turmeric milk fanatic? This nourishing beverage becomes a staple every year for us around this time; there is just nothing more comforting and healing! Turmeric has so many incredible healing benefits that are especially great for the fall and winter season, mainly its powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant capabilities, thanks to a potent compound within it called curcumin. Maybe you've experienced this potent golden spice in savory dishes like curries and sauces, but if you've not yet experienced the sweeter side of turmeric, you are in for a real treat.
Inspired by the traditional golden milk recipe of milk, turmeric, black bepper, and honey, we crafted a chia pudding that would deliver the medicinal properties of turmeric as well as highlight the same delightful combination of flavors. Enjoy!
The Recipe
Golden Turmeric Milk Chia Pudding
Serves 2
Ingredients
2 cups fresh almond milk - preferably homeade and raw
2-3 tbs sweetener of choice - can be adusted to suit taste
2 tsp turmeric powder
1/4 tsp black pepper - don't skip this ingredient - black pepper helps the body absorb the curcumin in turmeric better
3/4 tsp ground cinnamon
3/4 tsp minced ginger
1 tsp vanilla extract, or 1/4 tsp vanilla bean paste
Pinch Himalayan pink crystal salt
6 Tbs chia seeds
Optional: Rawmio Sprouted Almond and Sea Salt Chocolate Bark to garnish
Instructions
1. First make your golden milk by blending all ingredients except chia in a blender until smooth. For a less sweet pudding use 2 Tbs sweetener, but this can be adjusted to suit your taste.
2. Once milk is made, pour into a mason jar and add in 6 Tbs of chia seeds. Stir or shake thoroughly. You will need to let this sit in the fridge for at least 4 hours to form the pudding. The chia seeds will absorb the milk and start to gel together forming a pudding. Shake and/or stir several times while the pudding is forming to keep the chia from clumping together.
3. Top with a Rawmio Bark of your choosing and enjoy!
This recipe makes a yummy breakfast or ultra healthy, nutrient-packed superfood snack. Enjoy!
